Coincidence I think NOT

I was in our outreach meeting at church the other night and testimonies were being shared about what visit keeps you coming back?!......

As I sat there and listened it was said over and over again, "it seems coincidental", "that this and that would happen and we would end up at a person's door that really needed"..................

Coincidence I think NOT!

So as our group went out we had the assignment to give a family a gift card and we began praying. I was excited because I had taken my 8 year old Conley with us and he was designated group leader. (He thought that was pretty cool!) As we drove around town no one was jumping out at us, so I told the group leader to get praying, we needed some guidance. So we pulled over and asked a gentleman doing yard work if he knew a family that needed some help??? The gentleman turned out to be a PASTOR! And he knew a family right away that was in need of help so we ZOOMED over ready to give this card out. What we found was a family stunned to get this gift as we asked to pray with him, his wife came out, you could tell she had been crying and she began to tell us that she was just sitting on the kitchen floor, crying and asking God for some help. COINCIDENCE I think NOT!!!

Praise God, oh how he hears our prayers, the women's for help, Conley's for guidance and mine to teach my son what it is to serve each other in Jesus. It is such a great privilege to serve one another. I think the word coincidence really needs to be taken out of the Christians vocabulary because my God has it all planned out. PRAISE HIM!!!

Psalms 116:1-2, I love the Lord because he hears my prayers and answers them. Because he bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I breathe!

In the calm of the storm

Take Shelter!!!!!!!! As the storms hit on Friday in Harrisburg it gave a new meaning to wind. They have clocked the winds in the surrounding areas at 106mph, needless to say Harrisburg has made out on the whole storm as we are the only town that has power this weekend, the hotels are full, and the restaurants are packed (that is a act of God, except during deer season)! I was working at the bank Friday and they were preparing us to take shelter in the vault, I knew that it was probably the safest place in town at that point but my kids, my husband??? I was starting to get worried! As the first storm went through I just sat and prayed for couraged as I am trying to count back money all at the same time (I couldn't believe the people out in the storm doing banking???? CRAZY, I am like do you FEEL your car rocking back and forth????) and this verse that I had just taught on Tuesday and Wednesday came to mind, Mark 4: 41, " Why are you afraid, do you still have no faith?" I thought about the disciples on their boat in the middle of the lake with that huge storm waking, they are waking Jesus up because they are scared to death of the winds, well that is how I felt Friday. The verse became the living word as it spoke peace to me during the storm, as the winds blew through town and the cell phones went dead, the lights blinking and cars rocking I held on tight to that verse, praying that God would get us all through this storm safely. That night as I went to bed I thanked God for all my children being home safe and sound, and a bed to sleep in that night with electricity pumping through our house.

The day was full of excitement and I knew that God showed up not only in the wind and rain but in the calm of the storm.

Adopted in Christ

As you can imagine Monday was rough day at our house the excitement of prom has ended and everyone wanted to sleep in, I did too! Now that life has returned to normal, last night I find my family in my mom and dad's front yard shaking up soda cans and shooting them with a BB gun. I told Kirk "we have finally arrived in Harrisburg Illinois!" What a site I just sat there and enjoyed watching the boys fight over the gun and talk big stuff only to have Sterling's girlfriend out shoot them all.

But onto the Word, we are no longer orphans in this world. Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs of Christ, if we share in his suffereings in order that we may also share in his glory. We have been adopted by God I don't know if we truly understand the significance of these words unless we have been without family. We have a friend of Sterling that has been living with us, Awesome, Awesome man. Last night we were talking and it came up that he doesn't know if his mom will come to his graduation, he doesn't even know where she lives now. What do you say to that??? How does a child deal without a mom?? But we are children without a Father until we say yes to Jesus, how do others survive without the love and care of him?? How do you breathe, have hope and guidance. I know that I take this relationship for granted in my life, I have forgotten what it is like to be a orphan, living without him in this world. Thank you Jesus that even when we have no mom or dad in this world you come in and occupy that spot and so much more, you allow peace, forgiveness and hope. PRAISE YOU!

Praying constantly

This blog is in response to Leigh Gray's blog yesterday, as I read her blog I was definately relating, (I am glad to know I am normal or maybe Leigh we are both abnormal???) As I have been moving through the motions of life God has been speaking at the most interesting times, during my drives, washing the dishes etc. I have that conviction within me that the majority of my thoughts are not centered around our Jesus, I mean who has time????? I think of the verse in 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-19 that tells us to pray constantly, I have trouble getting in my morning quiet time and once that is done it is off to the races and every so often I stop for a moment and think I love you Jesus. Oh how I want to strive to have my thoughts centered on him constantly I mean God is instructing us in this because he knows that it is for the best life. But as for me what I eat, who I talk to, etc fill my thoughts throughout the day. Yes Leigh, I join you on that journey of going deeper with our Lord and striving to fill my days and nights with thoughts of Him and then everything else will be at peace within my heart, mind and soul.
