Never too Late

What a year, 2009!

  • I turn 40
  • Celebrate my 20th anniversary!
  • My oldest graduates from High School
  • I AM GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!!!!!!!

I really think I have just lost my mind. In the midst of speaking, raising 4 kids, sending one to college, working for Kirk and leading 2 weekly Bible Studies, I am now going to find 8 more hours a week to do homework and then 4 hours to go to class. Even with all those challenges the excitement that I felt as I entered that classroom was indescribible. Going back to school has been a goal for myself that I never thought God would bring to fruition. I sat there and heard the words that in December of 2010 I will have my bacheolors degree and joy just filled my soul. I just can not believe that God has made this available to me, one of my greatest regrets and biggest mistakes was not finishing college and now as God always does he is giving me a second chance. I PRAISE YOU LORD! I wonder why now? What is he equipping me for? How am I going to get this thing done? But in the excitement of the moment all of that does not matter, I am pumped and as I looked around the room at all the other faces you could see the same expressions, scared, overwhelmed but excited that their lives were about to change and this was the first step to a new tomorrow for many of us.

Brothers and sisters, it is never too late. I don't know what regrets you have, what your biggest mistakes have been but with our God all that matters is that he is the Father of God glorifiying new beginnings and tomorrows. As I write this the verse from Psalms 37: 3-4, comes to fulfillment in my life.

Psalms 37: 3-4 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Single- mindedness

Single-mindedness is not a strong suit of mine. Matter of fact in today's society we are expected to multi-task at a record pace and if we can't walk and chew gum at the same time we are out of the race altogether. (Okay I have looked up single-mindedness in the dictionary and have found that I once again created a new word, for those that don't know me this is nothing new. If you know how to spell this word correctly let me know!) Yet, single-mindedness is where God wants you and I. Why is it so difficult just to hear the voice of God, say yes and move forward in complete focus and dedication? I continually face the battle of sticking with the battle plan and then as I move further and further away from God's instruction I look around and wonder, 'how I did I get so far from the original instruction'?
It is like being on that boat and if we are not focused on keeping it on course the wind will blow it into no man's land and if I am the captain it would probably even hit the rocks and sink. (I would be too busy talking and eating at the same time.)
Lack of Faith? Lack of passion? Lack of priority? Yes single-mindedness is where God wants my boat, if I would listen it would definitely keep me from sinking.

James 1: 5-7 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. The man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

This Mother's Heart

Well last night was Senior Night and I walked my oldest son out onto the basketball floor, he was playing his last home game and it seems just like yesterday that he played his first. As Sterling gave me the flowers and a big hug the crowd cheered and the moment was over all to soon. When I went back to my seat I thought about the scripture in Matthew 2: 19, 19But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. I sat and pondered. I knew what Mary must have felt wanting time to stop and the moment to just be stuck in your heart and mind, I never want to forget this special moment. It really is amazing how fast time goes by and I just praise God that I have a son that has been a pure joy. Many asked me if I was sad, and I wasn't, I just didn't want to miss any part of this special night. With great expectation and joy I walked Sterling out knowing that a new chapter of his life is about to begin.

Being a mother has brought me so much closer to the Lord, not only being reliant on him but it has brought a understanding of his love for me. As Sterling went out for that jump ball I thought that there is nothing I wouldn't do for him, I love him so much. It is that mother's love that grows such faith in God, knowing that he will do everything and can do everything that needs to be done to protect me, provide for me and love on me. And God will do it in such a way that will mature me and prepare me for the next chapter of my life. It is amazing how God has created family to show us his unconditional love, with such wisdom and I am so thankful for it. I PRAISE YOU MY FATHER!

Compassion International/ Obedience

A few nights ago the speakers with Speaking Thru Me Ministries had a conference call with Compassion International. It was one of those Awe God moments. God is just bigger than me. I really am speechless. I think back at what God has delivered me from, all the fears, hopelessness and desperate times and stand amazed at his grace. My family knows who I really am, just normal, average, scared to death of my own shadow Lisa. And to get a glimpse of where he wants to use me and take me is just AWE! He has promised us a life transformed, he has promised us a purpose and a plan and yet when I see it flashed before me I stand amazed and ashamed of my little faith. Be encourage, be inspired as you are doing the washing, having your prayer time and running errands, God is behind the scenes working together all these things to bring together the purpose for your life. God I bow in AWE of you!

Rosolution Conference










I am so excited! You just never know all that God has in mind as he sends you on a journey. I am thrilled to have the priviledge to work with the other speakers at Speaking Thru Me and then to be able to work with these great ministry leaders is icing on top of a very huge cake.

Little Things

I was talking with my youth kids on Wednesday night about little things. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by the big responsibilites and expectations that we forget how God effectly uses the little things we do for people to change their lives. I asked them what had someone done for them that was a small thing but to them really made a difference. Many remembered a special phone call, a hand written letter and a freshman said, it is when a senior walks by him and is nice (interpreted I don't get pushed into a locker).
We talked about how Jesus' simple conversations changed peoples lives. Our challenge was to notice the little things that others do for us and to strive to take time to do the little things for others. When we think of others we need to take the time to write a note, or make a phone call, we need to show others they are special not by planning a big event but by simply saying you are important with our actions. I do believe God loves showing us his hugeness by the big things in life but the little things is how he shows his gentleness, intimacy and humility.

For me it is when I have one item at the grocery store and a lady lets me cut in line so I can get thru!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU LORD!

Joking around

Soren Kierkegaard wrote of a fire that broke out backstage in a theater. The clown came out to inform the audience. They thought it was just part of the show-a joke- and applauded his announcement. He repeated his warning, but they shouted all the louder. "So I think the world will come to an end amid general applause from all the wits, who believe that it is a joke." he says. But the demise of the world is not a joke. It is the challenge of our day, and responding as Christ followers is the great call on our lives. quote from Serious Times by James Emery White.

Is life a joke? I mean do we really just look around and laugh and as the Scriptures scream to us save your souls and those around you, do we applaude even louder just wanting to be entertained? Do we take our opportunities to lightly and under the deceit of the enemy ignore the warnings and allow ourselves and those around us to die to our own self centered lives?

God has filled the Word of God with warnings. He has sounded the alarm and is waiting for us to take action. To throw people over our shoulder and carry them to safety. The safety of his arms. He has told us he is coming again and to get ready, but for most of us this is not a thought during the day. I think of the 10 bridesmaids in Matthew 25: 1-13, as they went on with life to meet the reality of the fire in the end.

Brothers and sisters may we not take the Word of God and turn it into a joke. We must understand that this is our God, our King sounding the warnings and we must respond in obedience so that in the end we will not be burned.

Loosing Everything

Yesterday on the internet I read the headlines, "Man looses job, kills family and then himself". I have to admit I did not read on, but the thought followed me that day. You see I too have lost everything. I do mean everything, our home, our cars, every asset my husband and I had worked for, within 6 months was gone. That is where and when I found the Lord. You see so many nights I cried myself to sleep and so many mornings I woke up crying wondering what was going to happen next, yet at the same time God was pulling me closer and closer to him. I would have never made it through that time or the years to follow if I had not discovered the love of Jesus and the promises of God within the Bible. I will be posting a video testimony of this time soon, but today if there is one that is loosing everything and wonders, "how am I going to make it another day?" Only with Jesus will you make it through and keep your mind, family and heart intact. God has since delivered our family through time, opportunity and miracles and he will do it for you too, but you have to be willing to let go, submit and trust him. The journey is painful it is as they say, "making diamonds out of coal" but the outcome is one that will be written in the heavenlies. More to come soon, but one verse that was highlighted, written and memorized through those years was Philippians 4: 4-7, 4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Do not give up! Run to him my sisters and brothers he will show you a life that is more than money could ever buy.
